The Life of a Battery

by HeadCase on Apr.19, 2005, under Philosophical

Acdc_battery_anim We are all dreamers. Dreaming of dream after dream after dream. Each dream, within a realm of dreams that are aligned with our realization and momentum. Forever drifting about in the continuum of the continuum. Life, momentum… is created from the activity and arrangements of forms.

Momentum, the way electricity is a biproduct of two charged positive and negative poles. creating a cycle of push and pull… the activity and life of a battery. Inside the battery, two poles, one with positively charged atoms and the other negative. Each atom, a combination of molecules that somewhat resemble a simple star system, when the neutrons and protons orbit the centre, creating momentum, a charge. Take a step back, you see the battery, a storage unit of atoms. Purposeless on its own, but stick it in a portable electronic device and it becomes the heart and blood of a discman, or a mouse, etc.

So, cycles within cycles, we still dream. In Buddhism, the goal is enlightenment, to break the 7 cycles known as ’samsara’. Logically, there is a cycle outside of these, a greater wheel that our consciousness and brain is too primitve to depict. like a single duracell battery trying to understand the workings of the hoover dam. The momentum and driving force behind it, karma, the enlightenment, is to be the clock. theoratically, we are a part of the clock, the cog wheel and screws of a clock. We are the clock work, and the goal is to strive to be the clock. Then maybe we can be a part of a bigger cycle that has a better defined purpose? who knows. We are still a part of this ‘matrix’.

I know, I know, comparing life to a battery… what about emotion, feelings, the mind, art, etc. Are these energies filtered out from our interface (the brain) in different forms? What about the soul? the mind? the conciousness? is that the battery to our mind? An arrangement of our special atoms, known as conciousness. A different kind of charge, it does not occupy space but is infinitely more charged than an atom. Do not confuse the power sources of ‘you’ as a concious being. The heart and blood runs the body, but there is something else… the mind, what runs it, where does it come from, how does it exist without occupying space, how is it that it is so limitless it scares the brain? My best guess is that everything and nothing, that is the battery and the device. While it runs, it runs itself. What is it? limit and infinity. So the question is not, what am I doing here? no, perhaps one day we can look back on this life, and see it as we perceive the workings of a single battery resting on the palm of your hand. The question is, what do you want to be? the battery, or the device… or both. Once we realize that we are both, then I am hoping to guess the next step and ride the next cycle of cycles. If you ask why… then I’ll answer why not?

The moral of this internal monologue? lack of sleep and overdose of caffeine cannot makeup for lost sanity.

” …. again i have to say …. iam impressed, yes caffeine suits u well, yes you are crazy but in a good way … dreams change as we evolve into what we are meant to become and hopefully that is being both device n battery … mm err well something like that… kiss marita

and again i know is my name but is really marita… :P
